THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) The bridle on HAMSA GROVE (*J Jacobs) had to be refitted at the start. Thereafter this filly lost one length.
b) FUTURISTIC DAME (N Patel) lost one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) HAMSA GROVE (*J Jacobs) was hanging in, in the straight.
b) SANSKRIFT (C Zackey) was hanging out from the 300m.
c) Into the first turn, HAMSA GROVE (*J Jacobs) was tightened for galloping room when awkwardly placed on the inside of MS ROSA PARKS (A Mgudlwa), which rolled in marginally.
d) At the 1300m, KILVINGTON (S Randolph) was inconvenienced on at least two occasions when awkwardly placed on the inside of SPIFFY (D Dillon) which shifted in. Jockey D Dillon (SPIFFY) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the Race and was questioned regarding this incident. In this regard, he explained that, this mare has a tendency to shy away from other runners and in particular, run in. Consequently, when looking towards his inside Jockey D Dillon was not looking to race onto the rail but rather to hold SPIFFY off the running line of KILVINGTON (S Randolph) which was racing on his inside. Jockey D Dillon’s explanation was noted and Trainer W Whitehead will be advised to take all reasonable measures to mitigate the above identified mannerism of SPIFFY.
e) Trainer D Bosch appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the poor performance of SANSKRIFT (C Zackey) on 01 June 2020. In this regard, Trainer D Bosch was unable to provide any suitable explanation. Trainer D Bosch’s attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running and advised that this filly’s subsequent performances will be monitored going forward.
f) SANSKRIFT (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Bosch advised (DA).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) SANSKRIFT raced without blinkers (advised 22.06.2020/14h42).
b) FLAMING DESIRE was ridden by Apprentice T Gumede (claiming 4kg). Reserve runner (advised 23.06.2020/07h01).
