York Ebor Festival Gets Underway

The York Ebor Festival is a premier four-day flat horse racing meeting held each August at York Racecourse (the Knavesmire) in England. The 2026 festival runs from Wednesday, 19 August to Saturday, 22 August, featuring nearly £7.5 million in total prize money.

Festival Schedule & Highlights

  • Wednesday (Juddmonte International Day): Headlined by the prestigious Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes, alongside the Great Voltigeur Stakes and Acomb Stakes.
  • Thursday (Ladies' Day): Features the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks and the Lowther Stakes, pairing high fashion on the Ebor Fashion Lawn with top-tier distaff racing.
  • Friday (Nunthorpe Day): Showcases the lightning-fast Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes, plus the Gimcrack Stakes and Strensall Stakes.
  • Saturday (Ebor Day): Culminates with the historic Sky Bet Ebor Handicap—Europe's richest flat handicap race first run in 1843—alongside the Lonsdale Cup.
