Racing Round Up With 'The Racing Guy'
Thursdays racing saw a meeting on the Turffontein standside track! A workriders race started the day with a bomb! TWOSIDESTOASTORY giving Tony Nassif a well deserved win.
The days highlight was definitely the reliable Gavin Lerena riding a treble! Two for Roy Magner with THUNDERSTONE in race 2 making an easy winning debut. This son of SOFT FALLING RAIN definitely has a few more in the tank. MARENGO completed the trainer and jockey double in race 6. Generously priced up at 14/1 in the morning justified a bit of shrewd betting support, possibly a stable double to beat the favourite MUFASA by 0.75 lengths. The treble was completed in r8 on LITIGATION for Sean Tarry beated the fancied OUTOFTHEDARKNESS with ANYTIME CHAMP running below par.
R3 was between 2 first timers with Sean Tarry’s Drakenstein owned SWEET PEPPER pulling clear of Paul Peter's ODE TO THE OCEAN co owned by Warren and Candiese Lenferna. Both horse's look worth following. Race 4 saw the public banker BARD OF AVON return to form and win comfortably. With fairly favourable results, WILLOW LANE won r9 with the pick 6 returning R44 500.
Internationally, just one important news item being the judgement the Robby Dunne and Byrony Frost incident with Dunne being handed an 18 month ban from racing with 3 months suspended!
