Nooresh Juglall has passed away

Formgrids extends sincere condolences to the Juglall family and all of his friends, as well as his legion of fans in Mauritius and beyond, at this very sad time.

Nooresh Juglall tragically died in hospital after being injured in a heavy fall on the opening day of the 2021 Mauritius Racing Season on Saturday, 15 May.

Nooresh Juglall is survived by his wife Chaaya and young family, as well as his father Satanand, his mother Kavita, his sister Sweta and younger brother Tajesh.

Some facts about Nooresh Juglall

  • Nooresh was the first Mauritian to be crowned SA Champion Apprentice (2012).
  • His first ride was on 8 November 2009 on Subtle Beauty for Greg and Karen Anthony at Scottsville.
  • His very first winner was on 16 March 2010 on Shine The Gold for Roy Magner at Turffontein.
  • Nooresh Juglall made Singapore his professional home for five years and rode 217 winners.
  • In Singapore, Nooresh won his very first race that he rode with Majestic Moments on 5 June 2014.
  • He is reigning Champion Jockey of Mauritius.
