MALMOOS has been given a significant five point merit rating raise by the handicappers for his amazing win in the Grade 1 WSB SA Derby on Saturday and earning the prized Triple Crown.
His merit rating goes to 125 and will surely be enough for him to be a contender for the 2021 Vodacom Durban July. But this also means that he will carry more than the minimum weight of 53kg for a 3 year old male runner for the July.
However, Mike De Kock commented, "I'm not sure about taking MALMOOS to Durban. We're not hellbent on going to the Durban July. He's had a hell of a season."
MALMOOS beat PAMUSHANA'S PRIDE by 5.25 lengths with SECOND BASE a head back in third and anther 1.90 lengths to fourth-placed SHAH AKBAR.
Mike de Kock has indicated that MALMOOS's next task will be the Grade 1 Premier's Champions Challenge over 2000m at Turffontein.
