Race 1 kicks off at 12:15 it's for 80 000 4Racing welcomes you Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1 000m. This is also the start of the BiPot Leg One.
VIVACIOUS VICKY and FRENCH DUCHESS both made their debut on the same day in different races VIVACIOUS VICKY contested with the colts which run a much faster race than the fillies contest half an hour later.
If we compare the lengths behind on times DENVER versus VIVACIOUS VICKY would finish just over four lengths in front of FRENCH DUCHESS however it must be noted that FRENCH DUCHESS was blocked for a run when making a strong run to contest the lead. FRENCH DUCHESS has the advantage of a fillies allowance of 3 kg. FRENCH DUCHESS is expected to win from VIVACIOUS VICKY thet should be followed home by TYSON THE BRAVE, STORMY CHOICE and DREAM STATE.
Race 2 kicks off at 12:50 it is a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies. NO FILTER showed good pace in the last two starts and finished a good second to DOLCEZZA she is set to go one better here. WAITFORGREENLIGHT ran a promising race second time of asking but then disappointed against older horses in her last start. Village green makes her debut, she is a half-sister to CLIMATE CONTROL keep a close eye on a betting. SIGNORA BOMBA is starting to show improvement to be changing legs when bumped in her last start. NO FILTER is taken to win from WAITFORGREENLIGHT, VILLAGE GREEN and SIGNORA BOMBA could fight for 2nd and 3rd. Others to watch are CONTRA FISCUM and HAPPY ANALIA.
Race 3 starts at 13:25, is a Maiden Plate for Fillies and Mares over 1200m and it's start of the pick 6. LAW OF SUCCESS is from an in-form stable and he's ready to win. Expect improvement from PASS THE BATON, GREAT BARRIER (now scratched) and DUENNA. Watch the betting on the world bred silvano filly ONE RELIGION who cost R400,000 at the national yearling sales.
Race 4 kicks off at 14:00 hours and is a maiden plate over 1200m. The three-year-old colt RAVEN BLACK returns from an eight-month layoff and should contest the finish. AND ACTION a good debut and could give cheek. SCAMPTON finished his race of well in his debut and he's another to consider. DREAMLAND ran a good second on debut but in his next start over 1400m pulled hard at the back of the field around a turn and still manage to run on strongly at it finish. He drops back to 1200m on a straight course and could be too strong for this field. DREAMLAND is expected to win from RAVEN BLACK, AND ACTION, SCAMPTON, KLITSGRAS, and KNOCKEMSTIFF.
Race 5 starts at 14:35 with the MR-75 handicap over 1200m. This is an open contest and good value can be found as there are few horses who are dropping in ratings. DOUBLE MAGIC is dropped from a MR 80 to 75 dropped back from 1400m to 1200m and has blinkers fitted. BLUE WATERS drops from a MR87 to 76. He performed well over the shorter sprints but disappointed when tried over the extended sprints in the last two starts. He could appreciate the cutback in trip. I would watch for a consistent SAMOA, coming in hot, AFTER HOURS, MESCAL, SILENT WAR and improving RAMCHANDANI ROAD.
Race 6 starts at 15:10 and it's a graduation plate for one and two-time winners over 1400m. THUNDERSTONE was very impressive in his last two starts back from a rest, the last when beating BARD OF AVON over 1200m. He is back to his best and is expected to win easily from the filly ROCK THE FOX who has dropped in ratings after contesting three-year-old feature races. ARIVIDICIO can challenge for minor money.
Race 7 kicks off at 15:40 and is a middle Stakes race for horses with net ratings of 101 and below over 1 000m. This is the most open contest on the card and if you are playing a pick-6 it's best to include the field but if it must narrowed the selection down to three horses then choose TROMPIE, SMITH AND WESSON and MAY QUEEN however expect challenges from MIDNIGHT GEM, SUPER AGRA, BIG EYED GIRL, VEGAS HI RISE and even CONSTABLE.
Race 8 starts at 16:20 and is a MR-75 handicap over 1 800m. This is an exciting race to end the day. NOTHINGELSEMATTERS was slow away but finished very strongly over 1450m in a race won by LORD VARYS in his first run on the Highveld since moving from the Glen Kotzen stable. You know races over his preferred distance. TOTAL SURRENDER was very impressive when winning second time of asking over 1400m he will also be suited to the 1800m. TOTAL SURRENDER and NOTHINGELSEMATTERS are expected to fight out the lucky last with SILVANO'S SONG, LITTLE PRINCE, KNIGHTS TABLE, OYSTER KING and OVER TWO YOU said to fight out the minor placings.
