Who are "Live the Fantasy"? They are a group of the top Fantasy Racing players. Here is the Live the Fantasy review for today.
We are back on the Turffontein stand side track, which serves up a testing uphill around the turn and a long straight. Horses which take long to get balanced usually find their feet late on this track. The highlight of the day is race 5 which is a Pinnacle stakes race over 1600M. We have the newly crowned Grade 2 WSB Gauteng Guineas winner EYE OF THE PROPHET coming up against the previous year’s winner SAFE PASSAGE. SAFE PASSAGE was bumped at the start of his first start after a long rest and was not persevered with.
Jockey Richard Fourie appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SAFE PASSAGE. Jockey Richard Fourie explained that he was somewhat surprised by this gelding’s indifferent performance and he felt that SAFE PASSAGE had never taken the bit during the running and hence raced detached from the field throughout. He added that the gelding was returning from a lengthy lay off and that in his opinion, the trip of 1400m may have been on the short side at this stage of his career. His explanation was noted by the Stipendiary Board.
After this disappointing run SAFE PASSAGE has since blown out the Durban July betting from short favourite to 9/1. Punters van only go on the well-being of SAFE PASSAGE at this stage and back on his hunting ground in top form he will be difficult to beat however he is 3 kg under sufferance with EYE OF THE PROPHET if you take the sex allowance of jockette Rachel Venniker into account.
CIRILLO is racing off a dropped merit rating from 120 to 103, has blinkers fitted and could surprise. WHAFEEF and TEAM GOLD are out to show that they are capable of challenging for honours at this class level.
SAFE PASSAGE is taken to redeem his poor showing and will either once again shorten in the Durban July betting after this race or blow out to a more generous price should he be beaten.
The LTF team try to make the card simple for you and in race 1 the temptation is to go for MISS CHRISTMAS however this is a groom’s race where no whip is used and the field is littered with potential improvers like CHICAGO LASS, A PLACE IN THE SUN, ALL RISE, IDEAL HEART and SPRING OF ELIXIR.
In Race 2 ROYAL GUIDE should win.
In Race 4 DUENNA should just about win unless the Azzie debutant is good.
In Race 6 QUANTUM THEORY was backed to win his last start but was bumped and taken out the race early so he may atone for that performance here.
CLEAVER GREENE has run to some high speed ratings with good performances against MASTER ARCHIE who has since been retired to stud as a sprinting stallion.
COLDHARDSTARE could be very difficult to beat in race 7 however if ROCKETS RED GLARE settles in the running, he could find a big finish.
NETTLETON in race 8 was worked up before his last start and the saddle slipped back in running. He will have a big say in the finish along with TIME FOR CHARITY, SAMOA and ARILENA.
The big question to be answered today is SAFE PASSAGE going to be added to the Durban July shortlist below which can be played in doubles and trebles.
