Horseracing began in the Emirate of Dubai in October 1981 when the dusty Camel race track hosted the first thoroughbred race meeting. The first Dubai World Cup was held in 1996 in Nad Al Sheba Racecourse and in 2010 Dubai World Cup introduced the iconic Meydan Grandstand with a seating capacity for more than 60, 000 as world's richest day of horseracing.
The Dubai World Cup sees top-calibre horses from all over the world - America, UK, Europe, Australia and Japan who all compete for the $35 million in prize money.
There are nine Group races throughout the day, including six at the elite Group 1 level, with the main event - the $12 million namesake Dubai World Cup. After the Dubai world cup there will be Fire works & Concerts.
