Thursday Roundup

Posted on Friday, 17 December 2021

The public holiday meeting unusually at a KZN track opened with the original favourites ABBACADABRA drifting from a very unrealistic opening price of 9/20 to a more realistic price of about 2/1 as a result of support for LADIES DAY. The original favourite got up to win under Anton Marcus beating RASPBERRY BERET and LADIES DAY. I would like to know why Anton Marcus hardly returns for the interviews, this isn't good as his comments on rides for the rest of day could increase turnover and also he's not giving his sponsors milage!

The second saw PRINCESS DONELLY under Serino Moodley beat ANCIENT EPIC causing a bit of a bipot result. The raider LOOKING HOT played up at the start and if one to watch next time. The p6 opened with WINTER ROYALE under Gareth Wright just beating THE GREEN GALLANT with the favourite SYX HOTFIX back in third place. Race 4 saw the second favourite JACQUELINE under Sean Veale beat favourite MORE THAN A DIME and Keagan De Melo with RISE third.

Smooth Running

The fifth saw PUERTO MANZANO (ARG) at ridiculous odds of 3/10 only manage third place with the biggest outsider DECORATED under Marco V'Rensburg holding on to beat FAVOUR knocking out a lot of exotics tickets. The sixth saw a typical Anton Marcus ride as he came to the standside on NOBLE SNIPER to run on and pass BRAZIL NUT to win comfortably.

The penultimate race saw a good win from the favourite SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI who was well supported under Warren Kennedy beating FIGHT SONG. The final race saw a comfortable win for ROCKIE REEF under Donovan Dillon to justify favoritism with market rival SPARKLING FLAME in second. The pick return of 80k wasn't bad as only major result was in race 5.

Interesting News

Another point worth mentioning on the Greyville meeting was the scratching of TOM BOMBADIL in race 6.

Good news on Lyle is that he is at home in Hong Kong and will start his road to recovery soon.
